THROWBACK TO THE IT AWARDS


Creative Head Magazine have revealed where this years It Awards will be held….at the one and only Tate Modern and hosted by my favourite comedian Jack Whitehall, at the beginning of September. Last year was an amazing night and fortunately I got to take home an award for the second year running. Really looking forward to this year and good luck to everyone in the Most Wanted and IT LIST categories!

Hair breakage can be a dis-hearting thing. Theres nothing worse than seeing a beautiful girl yet her hair looks like it’s be mauled by a german shepherd.

Here are a few insider tips on how to eliminate hair damage:

Don’t rub your hair with a towel, this can be even more damaging than over styling.

Stop blow-drying your hair once it’s dry. It’s using the heat on already dry hair that causes the problem.

Use a wide tooth-comb or tangle teezer on wet hair and brush from the bottom up. Hair is at it’s weakest when wet, so treat it gently.

Just as you select your moisturiser to suit your skin type, you should select the right kinds of styling products for your hair to look its best.

Dry, split ends make hair look dull and lifeless and having them trimmed off is the fast way to getting hair in good condition.

Buy a silk pillowcase….This will prevent ‘bed hair’ and leave your tresses tangle free.

Don’t over style your hair, get your hands on some dry shampoo to pro-long your blow-dry.

Invest in heated tools with a temperature control, this way if you do need to style later or the next day, you can use a much lower heat setting.

TOP 10 FOODS FOR HEALTHY HAIR


When it comes to healthy hair, it’s not just what you put on your hair that’s important. It’s what you eat too.

Your hair grows about 1/4 to 1/2 inch every month, and the foundation of all of our new hair, skin and nail growth is the nutrients we eat. If you eat a healthy diet, you will grow stronger and healthier cells throughout your entire body, inside and out.

SALMON- As well as fatty acids, fish boasts high supplies of iron and vitamin B12, both of which are essential to skin and hair health. Meanwhile, rich sources of protein and vitamin D – which you can also absorb from the sun – improve hair strength and prevent breakage.

OYSTERS- One of the most powerful beauty-boosters on the planet are oysters, which contain highly concentrated levels of nourishing vitamins and minerals − including hair strengthening folic acid, iron protein and skin-clearing selenium and zinc – for a relatively tiny amount of calories.

EGGS- Similarly, eggs are hair-enhancing mineral bombs just waiting to be consumed. As well as containing many of the minerals and vitamins oysters contain, they are also rich in biotin, which helps to improve lustre. In fact, if you take a peek at the label on the back of your shampoo or conditioner, you might just find biotin listed in the ingredients, too.

WALNUTS- Nuts in general are fantastic sources of hair-enhancing vitamins and minerals, but walnuts are considered among the very best for nourishment. This is because they contain a potent blend of omega-3 fatty acids, biotin, protein, vitamin E and copper, which protects hair against the harmful rays of the sun by acting as a sort of shield.

CARROTS- The vitamin A contained in carrots helps the scalp to produce sebum oil, an important fluid that provides natural hydration to dull, dry locks.

EVERYONE NEEDS AN ‘INVISIBOBBLE’


I admit I was slightly skeptical when a box of ‘invisibobbles’ landed on my desk. Because they claim to cure all your issues when tying your hair up.

I have long hair of a medium thickness and I like to get my hair out of my face, but I hate the marks that eye-wateringly tight elastic bobbles give and I worry about them breaking my already delicate, over coloured hair.

Your hair has no volume.

The top is flat, the sides are bulky, and it no longer frames your features. A tell tale sign is if you’ve blow-dried your hair and it still doesn’t sit right….you’re ready for change or at the least a good cut.

Guess what? It’s probably time to do just that. Start getting inspired by collecting images of cuts you’d love and even hair cuts you hate so you and your stylist are on the same page…then make an appointment. Saturdays are usually manic in the salon so why not choose a day that your stylist will have lots of time and can pamper to your every wishes. Be open to suggestions and go through the eye of a needle when styling your new ‘do’.

This is an indication you’ve had too many highlights and theres too much going on. It’s great to have different tones in your hair else in can look too flat, however too much can age you quite dramatically and can harden your look.

The easiest compliment to give is to someones hair. Even if they’ve only changed it very slightly, it’s easy to notice as hair is the only accessory we wear everyday. At the end of last year, I was asked by the Daily Mail online to advise on Jennifer Aniston’s new haircut.

The Hollywood Superstar seems to be a muse to many and I’m often shown images of her hair in a bid to recreate the style.

Angel Montague-Sayers , UK Creative Ambassador for Cloud Nine, added: ‘Jennifer Aniston’s new blunt hair cut is a dramatic change from her well known softer, layered ‘Rachel’ look. I think Jennifer suits softer more textured hairstyles which soften her features and work well with her face shape.
